NINETY
ONE YEARS
& COUNTING

When Prohibition ended on December 5th, 1933, Waterfront poured San Diego's first legal beer. We haven't really stopped since.

THE FIRST POUR

The bar was founded by Chaffee Grant, the grandson of Ulysses S. Grant, along with his partner, shipbuilder Claire Blakley. They were among the first to acquire a full liquor license after Prohibition ended, and the bottles have been poppin’ ever since.

A DIVE BAR WITHOUT JUDGMENT

Mayors and judges, bikers and skaters,
Weddings with flowers and lawyers with papers.
Super Bowl parties, hot dogs and sausage,
Pitchers of lager 'til your barstool feels hostage.

All of San Diego has wandered through these doors,
And if these walls could talk, they'd never shut up.

WHY YOU'LL COME BACK

We don't have a velvet rope. We don't have a dress code. We have cold beer, honest cocktails, and a kitchen that's open earlier and closes later than the rest of Little Italy. Our bartenders will remember your name and will do their best to make sure you leave happy.
