LIBERTY STATION
Ten minutes east of Point Loma, the kitchen is still open.
How far it actually is
Liberty Station is about 4 miles west of Little Italy in Point Loma. Waterfront Bar & Grill at 2044 Kettner Blvd is roughly 10 minutes by car — straight down Rosecrans and across on Pacific Highway, or up I-5 depending on traffic. It's the same trip most Point Loma regulars have been making for years.
Why it's a good stop either way
- The Public Market and most of the Arts District wind down early. We're open until 2am.
- Breakfast from 8am if you're heading out to the park or the water in the morning.
- Full kitchen all day — burgers, sliders, tots, tacos, weekend Mexican brunch.
- Walk-ins only, so there's nothing to book on the way over.
Eating at Liberty Station
Liberty Station Public Market covers a lot of ground in one building, and the surrounding barracks house full restaurants and a couple of tasting rooms. It's a good daytime and early-evening stretch, with easy parking — the thing it doesn't have is late hours.
How to plan it
Spend the afternoon at Liberty Station, drive in for dinner and a drink, and you land in Little Italy with the evening still ahead of you. Coming the other direction, eat here first — the drive out is short and the parking there is easy.
