Waterfront Bar & Grill has been feeding hungry San Diegans since 1933. Our kitchen turns out classic American bar food done right — burgers, tater tots, breakfast plates, tacos, salads, and a full Mexican brunch on weekends. Nothing fancy, nothing fussy, just well-made food at fair prices, served from breakfast all the way through last call.

The Famous Smash Burger

Locals consistently rank our smash burger among the best in San Diego. We use fresh, never-frozen beef, smashed thin on a flat-top griddle, served on a toasted bun with classic fixings. Pair it with our tater tots — another house favorite that's earned its own following — and you'll understand why the Waterfront kitchen has a cult following despite being best known as a bar.

Daily Breakfast, All Day

We open at 8 AM with a full breakfast menu: huevos rancheros, breakfast burritos, classic American plates, and Bloody Marys mixed strong. Breakfast runs all day for anyone whose schedule (or last night) demands it. On weekends we add a special Mexican brunch menu starting Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Late-Night Kitchen

The kitchen stays open late — one of the few real bars in downtown San Diego where you can get a hot, full meal at midnight. After-shift service workers, late-arriving travelers, and Padres fans who stretched the night know us as the reliable spot for honest food after 11 PM.
